In today"s recording industry where the growing trend has been towards
producing music that is homoginized, sanitized, formulated, cloned, easily digested, and otherwise market researched to death, it's nice to see that not everyone is buying into the hype. Vancouver record producer Jeff Dawson approaches music making in a manner contrary to what the majority of the industry feels "is the way it's done". Rather than chase after a sound, or the next big thing, or even a hit single, Jeff's passion is to channel an artist's vision and create a body of work that will stand up to scrutiny today, or twenty years from now. He strives to record music that will last forever.

"I want to work with artists whose vision I believe in - not whose
singles are hits. If we create something that the label thinks is a
single that's fantastic, but I'm more concerned with servicing the
artist's songs and nurturing their music until together we feel it's
expressing what it needs to express. Very rarely does a good song want
to express 'I should be in heavy rotation' ", says Dawson.

Quickly becoming an artist's favorite, Jeff has recently developed and produced the breakthrough debut by songwriter Daniel Powter (Warner). After working on Daniel's songs and helping develop the project's sound over 3 years, the final product was heard by Warner Bros Chairman/CEO Tom Whalley who immediately knew he had something extraordinary and signed the project on the spot. Daniel's single "Bad Day" sounds like nothing else out there and has taken Europe, and now North America,
by storm.
